Ani Cordero
Ani Cordero
Since 1999, Ani Cordero has fronted the critically-acclaimed band, Cordero,
praised by The New York Daily News as "...nothing less than groundbreaking
bilingual art rock."

Ani Cordero's latest album, explores personal connections to the most classic Latin American folk ballads, protest anthems, and love songs she'd heard while growing up in both the states and Puerto Rico. Co-produced with Sergio Dias, of Os Mutantes, "Recordar," faces the complicated political history of Latin America, and finds new inspiration in the songs of artists like Victor Jara and Violeta Parra, as well as others of the "Nueva canción" movement, who were often exiled or killed because of their music's message of democracy and social justice.

On Recordar, Ani brings together an astounding cast of musicians, including Charles Giordano, of the E Street Band, Kelly Pratt from Arcade Fire and Beirut, Brent Arnold of Modest Mouse, Tim Keiper, percussionist for Malian musician Vieux Farke Toure, Omar Little of Lee Scratch Perry, and featuring Cordero herself on vocals, drums, and guitar.
