Dan Reed Network formed in Portland, Oregon in 1984 and quickly began packing out local clubs with an infectious mixture of hard rock, funk and soul elements. After releasing an independent EP in 1986 and landing atop local radio charts, DRN signed to Polygram/Mercury Records. According to then manager Bill Graham, he saw in DRN the same “pure energy” that he recognized the first time he saw the Rolling Stones. Their first single "Ritual", peaked at number 38 in the Billboard Hot 100. In late 1987, the group released its self-titled debut album, produced by Bruce Fairbairn (Bon Jovi, Aerosmith). The well-received album charted in the US Top 100, garnered a four star review in Rolling Stone, and formed the basis for a successful worldwide touring and recording career for the band.

Fight Another Day is the groundbreaking funk rock band’s first album in over 25 years. DRN is once again delivering their signature rock tracks with funk and dance undertones, and the band is ready to tour the world once again! After crowd-pleasing reunion tours in Sweden, the US, and noteworthy performances at the UK’s Download Festival and Rockingham Festival, the members of DRN felt the chemistry was flowing again and decided it was time to get back in the studio and create a new album for another generation, while honouring all those who supported the band since its debut album back in 1987. The original line-up has returned, save for longtime Dan Reed associate Rob Daiker replacing Blake Sakamoto on keyboards

The band’s original story is often accompanied by musings as to why they were never more commercially successful. Certainly, multiple hit singles and albums in places like the UK and Scandinavia indicate that there was something uniquely appealing about DRN’s hybrid sound and multi-racial line-up. At the Rock n’ Roll Fame induction ceremony in January 1989, Dan Reed met producer Nile Rogers (Duran Duran, Madonna, David Bowie) which led Rogers producing Slam, the band’s second album. It better represented the band’s live sound and accelerated their growing status in Europe. At this time Def Leppard's managers Cliff Burnstein and Peter Mensch of Q Prime took the management reigns which led to DRN supporting on the European leg of Bon Jovi's New Jersey tour in 1989 and the Rolling Stones' 1990 European tour.

DRNs third album The Heat, produced again by Bruce Fairbairn in 1991, was their biggest success in the UK, mostly due to the single “Lover”, which featured a live video from their performance at Wembley Stadium with the Rolling Stones. However, having become disillusioned with the record business and all its trappings, Dan Reed took a different direction away and in time the group disbanded, much to the dismay of supporters around the globe.

It wasn’t until 2012 that a concert promoter invited Dan to reunite the original band for a New Year’s Eve in their hometown of Portland, Oregon. With all the original band members Dan Reed, Dan Pred, Brion James, Melvin Brannon II and Blake Sakamoto on stage, the sold out audience and the band truly enjoyed revisiting all the old material. Word began to spread in Europe that DRN may be coming back together. The band members found it incredibly fun being back on stage, and the fire was building to do more live shows. They especially enjoyed seeing the audience light up and dance the night away once again, so they decided it was a good time to bring the band back to Europe. The first run in October 2013 included sold out shows in Stockholm at 'Debaser', The Enchanted Festival in England, and in Northern Ireland. This marked the band’s first live shows in Europe in over 20 years. DRN was then invited to play at the 2014 Download Festival, and they subsequently toured throughout in the UK, Finland, Sweden, and Germany in 2015. DRN also released a PledgeMusic-funded double CD DRN - Anthology, a compilation featuring four new live tracks from shows in 2013, along with all the singles, b-sides, remixes, and unreleased tracks.

Dan Reed Network has performed at ‘Download Festival in the UK and the ‘Sweden Rock Festival’ in June of 2016 and has been hitting the road hard throughout the world in 2017 performing at Festivals and headlining tours in club venues in the UK, Germany, France, Scandinavia, Germany and the US in support of the release of Fight Another Day. DRN has just completed a sold out run in support of EXTREME in the UK in December 2017 and the band is back full force in the studio and on the stage, and ready to kick out the funk rock once again!
