Johnny & The Bootlegs
Johnny & The Bootlegs
Johnny & The Bootlegs are an NYC Blues-Punk-Rock outfit established in 2016. Dedicated to the idea of creating good time, soul inspired, rock n roll, the bands self-titled, debut album was released in August 2017. With cited influence from artists like ZZ Top, Jimi Hendrix, Green Day and Sublime, J&tB is fronted by NYC singer-songwriter John Santiago with Eric Neuberger on Bass and the recent addition of Ryan Adams on drums. Having released two singles since their debut with plans of two more in early 2018, their follow up EP entitled NYC Rags, is set for release in the Spring.
NYC Rags was recorded at Studio G in Brooklyn, NY by engineer Jeff Berner (Psychic TV, Chris Cubeta and the Liars Club, NAAM, Heliotropes, etc,) through the summer and fall of 2017. The songs were written by Santiago during his time as a General Manager in NYC nightlife and relate to his personal trials and tribulations throughout a “wild six years”. Thrift Shop speaks about the odd underlying nature of wearing someone else's clothing, while NYC Woman is a direct discussion of the extremes present in NYC dating. Hesitant is a haunting ballad that piggybacks on the damage of those extremes, causing people to hold back, cautious of city love. Wings is a broken hearted guitar tribute to Jimi Hendrix asking an ex to “fly away”. Lastly, Hey, Jenny is about the desire and need for love, though unrequited in the face of screaming sincerity

Cancion And The Family Band
My birth name is Cancion, for those of you jaded enough to think I would name myself something so ridiculous. My parents said my name was the only thing they ever agreed on and I believe them. I began my music career in a Tucson, Arizona elementary school as the kid who tuned the guitars as punishment for misbehaving in class. At age fourteen, I lost the fight with my namesake and asked for a guitar for my birthday. I wrote my first song two weeks later. Since the day I wrote that first song I did everything in my power to ensure that I would become a musician. I moved to New Jersey at age 18 to be close to NYC and took the train to play dives in North Jersey that aren't there anymore, to whichever drunks happened to be there (I would become one of these and reclaim sobriety later on, but thats a different story). It is a privilege to live in the city nowadays. I've played in bathrooms, train stations, houses, dive bars, barns, and some pretty nice places too. I love blues music and country music the most. I have my own trio which I affectionately call the family band because you never know who is going to show up to dinner. I run an actively gigging band, and each show is a push towards a higher level of expression. Come check me out live or check out my EP "True as Time Allows" available in all online stores and on Spotify.
August on Sunday
August on Sunday
Stemming from a dream about a review in a newspaper, August on Sunday has and will be, “a rock and roll experience.” Danny Axel (guitarist and vocalist) recruited the assistance of Rob D. (bassist and vocalist) and Sully (drums), and the three began to craft the foundation of the AOS sound in the summer of 2009. Sadly, after their 2012 album release of Slacker Blues, the band dealt with several personal heartbreaks that left them unsure of their next steps. It wasn’t until the 2016 release of their EP, Rained Out, an East Coast tour with friends, RoyGbiv, and completing the recording of their second full-length album, 33, that the band felt reinvigorated. Luckily for fans and music lovers everywhere, August on Sunday was able to take those moments of heartbreak to craft a careful blend of rock, pop, soul, grunge, punk and jazz.
Since their revival in 2015, August on Sunday has attracted listeners and fans into the AOS family, playing shows at Mercury Lounge, the Bowery Electric, Freddy’s Bar, and the Velvet Lounge (in DC). Other than the much-anticipated release of their second album, August on Sunday is also looking forward to bringing their slacker sophistication to fans across the United States with two upcoming tours for 2017.
What separates August on Sunday from its predecessors and bands to follow is the passion for music, community, and the commitment to bring more love to the masses. With an earnest clarity of a true rock and roll experience, August on Sunday looks forward to you joining them to experience all they have to offer.
