Sean Carroll
Sean Carroll was raised on rock and roll. The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin were channels through which he dialed in to the history of blues and soul music, bringing names like Freddie King, and Leadbelly to the forefront of his musical education. With gospel, soul, blues, rock and roll, and funk always delivering precisely the groove needed to get Carroll affected, it’s clear that above all else he lives within the musical vein of “feel”. Less a force than an energy, less a movement than a mood, Carroll’s approach to creating music is by a method of “whatever feels right”. He is very much a product of his influences, of which he sites Gary Clark Jr., Sly and The Family Stone, and The Rolling Stones to be of the most significance to his musical exploration.
A childhood surrounded by exchanges of art in all forms, lessons of music through films, and history through photography, Sean Carroll’s passions have always left him most inspired and enthralled with people and the interactions and conversations between them. New York City was the perfect environment to have in arms reach, growing up just twenty minutes north of Manhattan in Pelham, NY, and moving to Greenwich Village at the age of 18. The city that surrounds him survives on the people that live within it and Sean Carroll believes that you can learn more from standing still for 5 minutes and observing those people and the way the city works than any living thing in the world could ever teach you.
