Drawing musical influences from alternative and punk icons Saves The Day, The Get-Up Kids, The Menzingers, and Weezer, Northern Virginia’s Weatherworn makes rousing rock and roll music that would fit in perfectly on both Vagrant Records artist compilations from the early-00s and any individual “mixtape” soundtrack. Weatherworn started out as a solo acoustic act called Prior Engagements in 2016, and morphed into a loud, boisterous three-piece rock band with a one-word name in late-2018. The band’s singer and guitarist frontman, Joey Lins, writes sharp lyrics and catchy melodies that showcase the struggles of many twenty-something adults across the globe; these struggles end up becoming extremely relatable quarter life crisis’ of sorts for himself and his peers. Lins eloquently and personally introduces the listener to such important topics and the modern societal pressures that come with adulthood in the 21st century with vigor. He also addresses a topic that is happily becoming less taboo to discuss now than it was years ago: depression. However, Weatherworn’s music is FAR from depressing, and each tune gives its listeners an uplifting kick in the posterior. Substantive and real music has the power to save lives, and Weatherworn is certainly living proof of said fact. Weatherworn truly pays it forward to the world with each word and note.

Weatherworn is not an act to sit, idly by and wait for things to happen. The band is off to a more than solid and quick start in less than a year since forming. Weatherworn hit the ground sprinting by releasing two strong and steadily growing singles on Spotify in March and April. The band begin its live career with an extremely well received debut show with Michigan’s indie rock group Mike Mains and The Branches and New Jersey musicians Owel in late-March 2019 at Jammin Java in Vienna, Virginia. Weatherworn also spent time writing and recording a full-length album called “Still-Frames” produced by John Naclerio of Nada Recordings (My Chemical Romance, Brand New, Real Friends). The trio plans to rock more stages and cities in Spring 2019, and release its aforementioned LP in summer 2019. To put it simply and to loosely quote its debut album title, you certainly won’t be able to sit still after a Weatherworn listen.
