Sonic Blume with The Standby and Lost Cousins

--

Sonic Blume is an indie band, with a dream pop-shoegaze blend, from Asbury Park, NJ. Their sound can best be described as “dreamy” with jangly, upbeat guitar melodies. Sonic Blume is comprised of Max Connery, 18, on Guitar/Synth/Vocals; Danny Murray, 18, on Drums; Andrew Phelan, 18 on Bass Guitar; and Chase Landgrebe, 18, on Guitar.

The band was formed in December 2015 when the friends discovered a mutual interest in indie music, specifically Tame Impala and MGMT, and similar older influences like The Smiths, Joy Division and My Bloody Valentine. Since then, Sonic Blume has performed at major local venues including The Starland Ballroom (opening for Netflix's "Stranger Things" star Gaten Matarazzo's band Work in Progress to a sold out crowd of 2000+); The Asbury Lanes with Tor Miller and again for their own EP Release show; Rutgers University; The Stone Pony (opening for The Revivalists/White Denim and performing for The Light of Day Foundation); The Brighton Bar; and House of Independents. In November 2017, Sonic Blume released their self-titled debut EP, to rave reviews by NJ Racket, Jersey Indie and 2G1Reviews, which is available on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify and more.

Most recently, Sonic Blume received their biggest honor yet. In addition to opening up for the Asbury Park Music Awards Show on April 12th, 2018 at The Stone Pony, they were awarded the Asbury Music Award for Top Young Band (Under 21)! They were also nominated in 2 other non-age restricted categories for Song of the Year ("First Nite") and Best Local Album Release.

Their debut EP continues to get college radio station air time and has been featured on WRSU 88.7FM Rutgers University; WLFR 91.7FM Stockton University; WBJB 90.5FM Brookdale College; WMCX 88.9FM Monmouth University; WPRB 103.3FM Princeton University; and WTSR 91.3FM The College of NJ. They were also recently featured and interviewed on NJ's own WRAT 95.9FM by Tom Hanley.

The band recorded and released their second EP "Beach Karma" at Lakehouse Recording Studios in Asbury Park, NJ with producer Erik Kase Romero (Lorde/Front Bottoms/Deal Casino/Gaslight Anthem) on July 14, 2018 with a release show at The Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park, managed by The Bowery Presents. As of Dec. 31st, Beach Karma has been streamed a total of nearly 60,000 streams in just six months, with their #1 hit from the EP "Sunflower Bean" being streamed 40,000 times. Various songs from the EP have been featured on radio shows and blogs as far as Germany and Brazil.

The band is back in the studio already, working on their next album. They have recorded several songs which are set to release in early Spring 2019. Stay tuned!

The Standby

The Standby is Jordan Sigmund (Vocals, Guitar), Jake Brown (Drums), and Lyle Sallade (Bass, Backing Vocals). The emo indie trio finds its roots in raw lyrical content, deep bass lines, psychedelic guitar licks, and dark grungy tones. With influences stemming heavily from Citizen, Nirvana, and The Cure, the three-piece indie powerhouse has quickly become an underground staple in their native Northwestern Pennsylvania Tri-State region; packing out basements, living rooms, and dive bars. The Standby has been deemed “indie hometown heroes” by their local arts & music blog: The Erie Reader.

Lost Cousins

For the indie psych rock outfit Lost Cousins, grappling with life transitions—and the domino effects of those choices—is at the core of their sprawling, celestial-sounding debut LP. The record is a sweeping, anthemic tribute to the things one loses or gives up; the places one longs for, especially as one grows up and moves on. Pushing forward and leaning into change isn’t as easy as it looks. It’s a record that spans the entire country and collapses back into itself; feeling like a swelling tide in the ocean with a significant, sweet comedown like when the tide settles on the beach. The band has toured throughout Canada and the United States, including opening spots for The Strumbellas, Hollerado, and The Wooden Sky. Recent Canadian festival performances include sets at Wayhome (2015), CityFolk (2016), NXNE (2017), and Hillside Festival (2017). Lost Cousins is Cam Duffin (drums), Lloyd McArton (guitar, saxophone), and Thomas Dashney (keyboards).
